एक राजा ने एक किलो सोना लेकर 10 स्वर्णकारों को 100 ग्राम प्रत्येक को देकर 10 10 ग्राम की 10 अंगूठियाँ बनाने का आदेश दिया ।

एक सोनी ने बेईमानी करते हुए हर अगुन्ठी को 9 ग्राम की ही बनाई ।

राज के गुप्तचर ने यह बात रजा को बता दी क़ि किसी एक सोनी ने हर अंगूठी 1 ग्राम कम की बनाई हे ।

राज की समस्या यह हे क़ि उसके पास तोलने वाला यन्त्र सिर्फ एक ही बार टोल कर पायेगा । दूसरी बार यह काम नहीं करेगा ।
